Accidental Landlords Facing £6bn bill
Accidental landlords are often classified as landlords who have either inherited a rental property, or let a property they no longer live in.
The M.E.N. article references a survey conducted by HomeServe, which states that almost three quarters of accidental landlords have encountered costly issues in their rental properties. The most frequent problems encompass boiler malfunctions (31%), heating system breakdowns (29%), and plumbing complications (28%). Additionally, leaks (27%) and electrical faults (22%) prominently feature among the challenges faced.
The survey states that almost all landlords (95%) have shouldered expenses associated with addressing unforeseen maintenance issues in the past year. On average, they expended £3,194 to rectify these issues within their rental properties.
